MONROVIA, August 27, 2018—A month-long nationwide vetting and validation of Government of Liberia’s pensioners by the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) kicked off today in six counties and will last up to September 24th.
The exercise which started in Bong, Grand Bassa, Maryland, Margibi, Montserrado and Nimba Counties today will be extended to the rest of the counties until every GOL pensioner is vetted and his or her name entered into NASSCORP’s database.
The exercise will pave the way for the payment of GOL pension by NASSCORP to former civil and public servants in October this year.
During the exercise, GOL pensioners and survivors will be required to submit the originals and photocopies of their letters of retirement, pension certificates, pension payroll ID cards, death certificates and passport-size photos, among others.
Meanwhile, the Corporation is calling on all GOL pensioners and Survivors of deceased GOL pensioners to cooperate by showing up at the various vetting and validation sites around the country to be vetted, adding, “It is a prerequisite for receiving GOL pension from NASSCORP.”
It can be recalled that in February 2017, the empowering PRC Decree No. 14 that governed the operations of NASSCORP for 37 years was repealed and replaced by an Act creating a new Chapter 89 of the Executive Law establishing the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation of the Republic of Liberia.
The said Act transferred the administration of the Civil Service Pension Program to the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation upon coming into force.
