NASSCORP EDUCATES EMPLOYEES ON NEW ACT
In a bid to have its employees understand the new Act so that they can explain it to the Liberian workers and the general public, the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) recently conducted two-week training for employees on the New Act. The New Act replaces the People’s Redemption Council (PRC) Decree No. 14, the operating law of NASSCORP for the past 37 years. Strategic Plan, -A Catalyst for Effective Service Delivery
A success story is being told at the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) following the meticulous implementation of a five-year Strategic Plan, introduced in 2008. The document, which focused on five targets, has re-positioned the social security program beyond its prewar status, and the institution is providing efficient services to employers and employees under the schemes. Investment Returns Net Over US$ 1M
The Investment Division has announced that income from investment as at October 2014 netted US$1.01 million. The division indicated that revenues from investment came from rental from real estates, financial assets, among others. According to the report, an amount of US$600,000 was received as rental from NASSCORP House at the ELWA Junction in Monrovia. Buchanan Residential Building in Grand Bassa County netted US$87,750.00 each, while teh Kakata Guest House in Margibi County and Voinjama Guest House in Lofa County raised US$93,750.00 and US$36,180.00 respectively. Five-Year Strategic Plan Yields Success
The Act creating the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), first passed by the National Legislature on July 10, 1975, and re-instituted in 1980, by the People Redemption Council's (PRC) Decree No.14, provides future financial security for insured employees and their dependents. This provision applies in the event of loss of natural ability to earn income, temporarily or permanently due to work-related injury, occupational disease, old-age, invalidity or death. The Act considers NASSCORP as a caring and responsive social security institution, providing for its covered population. Read more- 1
