NASSCORP BOSS GETS INTERNATIONAL POST

The Director-General of the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Dewitt vonBallmoos, has been appointed Vice-Chairperson of the Technical Commission (TC) on information Technology of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) for a three-year term.

The appointment, which runs from 2017 to 2019, was contained in a letter dated January 18, 2017 and addressed to the NASSCORP boss.

“The vice-chairpersons have an important role in assisting the chairperson to plan and guide the activities of the TC by ensuring its focus on priority issues and by contributing the ISSA overall work programs and objectives.”

“They are also expected to provide technical inputs and practical support to the TC projects,”

Mr. vonBallmoos’ appointment is based on the professional work done by him locally and internationally as director-general of NASSCORP for the past four years.

NASSCORP’s participation in ISSA affairs has gathered momentum in recent years. In 2014, NASSCORP won the ISSA Africa Good Practice Award for blending common sense and technology to bring efficiency to the benefit disbursement process in NASSCORP.

In response, Mr. vonBallmoos thanked the ISSA Technical Commission chairperson for his preferment and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.

In a related development, the newly appointed Technical Commission’s vice-chairperson attended the 11th Forum of the Technical Commission which convened from March 2-3, 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The forum brought together the chairperson and vice-chairpersons of al the TCs, and provided an opportunity for exchange and coordination between them and to develop the work plan of the Technical Commission for the 2017-2019 triennium.
