PRESS RELEASE

A month-long nationwide vetting and validation of Government of Liberia’s pensioners by the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) kicked off today in six counties and will last up to September 24, 2018. The exercise which started in Bong, Grand Bassa, Maryland, Margibi, Montserrado and Nimba Counties will be extended to the rest of the counties until every GOL pensioner is vetted and his or her name entered into NASSCORP’s database.

The exercise will pave the way for the payment of GOL pension by NASSCORP to former Civil and Public servants in October this 2018. During the exercise, GOL pensioners and survivors will be required to submit the original and photocopy of their letters of retirement, pension certificate, pension payroll ID card, death certificate and passport-size photos, among others.

Meanwhile, the Corporation is calling on all GOL pensioners and Survivors of deceased GOL pensioners to cooperate by showing up at the various vetting and validation sites around the country to be vetted, adding, “it is a prerequisite for receiving GOL pension from NASSCORP.”

It can be recalled that in February 2017, the PRC Decree No. 14 that governed the operations of NASSCORP for 37 years was repealed and replaced by an Act creating a new Chapter 89 of the Executive Law establishing the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation of the Republic of Liberia. The said Act transferred the administration of the Civil Service Pension Program to the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation upon coming into force.
