The National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) was established on July 10, 1975 through an Act of the National Legislature to administer the social security program in Liberia. The empowering Act envisaged three schemes: the Employment Injury Scheme (EIS), the National Pension Scheme (NPS), and the Welfare Scheme (WS). We would to take this opportunity to respond, publicly for the first time, on the detailed findings of the audit conducted by the Auditor General of Liberia on the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) for the fiscal periods July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2007. NASSCORP Overview

The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) is a statutory public trust charged with the administration of Liberia's Social Insurance Program. Its primary responsibility is to replace part of lost income due to injury, invalidity, old age or loss of life.

The Employment Injury and National Pension Schemes administered by NASSCORP have registered membership of over 60,000 persons, with 6,000 beneficiaries who currently collect their monthly benefits from NASSCORP.

The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation was established by an Act of the National Legislature on July 10, 1975. Prior to 1975, the workers of Liberia were covered under the Workman's Compensation Ordinance administered by the Ministry of Labor where as public sector employees, including civil servants, were covered by a separate program administered by the General Governmen
